The novel in the letters "Dangerous Liaisons" the only epistolary novel by the French general Shoderlo de Laclo (1741-1803) is recognized as the best novel of the 18th century and according to the author's memoirs is based on real events. The novel creates a vivid image of French aristocratic society on the eve of the French Revolution.
