Author Nikolai Gogol

Auditor
Perhaps one of the most famous Russian-language plays in the world. In the pages of this work Gogol ridiculed all public vices, characteristic not only of that time, but also, alas, modernity: laziness, graculation, treasury, corruption, lawlessness, disrespect of human dignity. The main character - Khlestakov - is not a hero at all. And not even classic for such comedies "cheat." He's just a sliver of the whirlpool of circumstances. And the main driving force is fear. Everyone is madly afraid that Khlestakov is an auditor, in whose hands the fate and careers of officials and officials.
