Arguments of reason
The plot of the novel is uncomplicated - the meeting of Anne Elliot and Frederick Wentworth in his youth, love, breakup and a new meeting years later, already mature, many survivors and conscious people. At the same time, however, "The Reasoning" is a stunning humor and subtle irony of the "encyclopedia of mores" of the provincial English "light" of the early 19th century. Young ladies chasing rich suitors, and hunters for dowry, mothers and aunts, desperately intriguing in search of profitable parties for girls, empty and chewy local "lionesses", ruining nobles, gossip and rumors - before the reader literally come to life colorful portraits and sharp, funny situations.
